Alright, have a bit of a dilemma that the manual isn't helping with.

We've got a 96 Spyder that will not function as far as the Headlights, Tail Lights, Dash lights go with turning the switch. Everything seems to be in place. The previous owners had them wired up to switches - this is tacky and unacceptable.

Now, I have pulled the driver fender and found that it was wrecked and the wiring harness behind the bumper had several wires spliced back together. I went ahead and repaired them all save for 6.

All of these 6 are White/Green stripe. 4 from the harness that runs under the bumper to the fuse box I suspect and 2 from the harness that passes over the wheel well. A single one is hot at all times - no others are hot with the key on, off, or the lights turned on. Only one is hot - This is the Tail-Light relay. It is hot at - all times unless the battery is unhooked.

I identified (using the switches and tracing the wires) what are the main power wires for the tail/head lights. I applied the tail light wire to this 12v green/white wire and heard a Relay click. It was the tail light relay. So good so far. As soon as I touched it, however, it drops to 0.06 volts.

What I need to know is, where the wires for the headlights/tailights run and connect so I can check for grounding.

Also the harness in the center console that runs to the radio is pretty hacked and there are several wires loose here. I want to say that a few of these deal with the interior lights and the tail lights?

Any guidance on this would be appreciated. The wiring is driving me crazy and I can't seem to line anything up using this wiring diagram from the manual.

To make it clear, if I run a switch with power from battery to the single green wire at the driver side wheel well, the tail lights work. If I connect that same wire to the 12v that comes from the tail relay, it doesn't function.

Stumped.

2 : Top (Opening/closing) -

So the top on this doesn't seem to function by control. I have checked the switch in the truck and tried it in both Manual and Enabled mode. Are there any specifics I can check?

3 : Compression - I took a look in my Chilton for the answer on this one but I suppose I'm either missing the page or I'm blind. What are the compression limits and factory compression for the 4G64?

For the Electrical.

The battery is at 10.8v. There are two wires that are constantly hot (Green and White) that run from the fuse area underneath the radiator towards the driver side of the car where the cut is. From my understanding, only one of these should be hot and go to the interior switch. I found the corresponding wire and hooked it to the appropriate 10.8v wire so I now have power at the switch. We then went to the engine bay fuse box : The Tail Light fuse had a broken wire on the bottom : A green and white wire. It was extended and plugged back into the socket at one point. This wire goes into the harness and nowhere else except directly to the fuse. On the other side of the fuse is a red wire with a white stripe that goes to the headlight relay. Here's the cool part.

The green and white wire that is supposed to run to that fuse - if you ground it, the headlights turn on! That wire is also energized with 10.8v! If you remove the headlight relay, this wire has no power and does nothing if grounded. From my understanding, this wire should not be a power wire - the red and white wire should.

So....that's where I stand currently. Why? There is also a green and white wire, the one not hooked to the interior steering wheel switch, that is 10.8v when grounded the headlights turn on. This wire is cut and not hooked to anything. Might this be the same wire? And if so, I would assume that it has rubbed through and is touching a hot wire which is keeping it energized?

Just updating this - you know, in case there are readers.

The green and white wire that runs from the tail light fuse had malted clear through. So I removed it from the box and traced it - it had one single spot where it had burnt into a 12v wire. Replaced this entire line. Now everything in the fuse box is fine. No crossed wires - But this did not resolve the issue. It has - however - effective the running ability of the vehicle for a positive note. It's much smoother.

Anywho, I cannot get power to either the headlights or the running lights still. All fuses and relays have been replaced. I have 12v to the switch but nowhere else. Everything checks out with the switch. Where should I go from here?
