i started on the car today and I found a few things of intrest...... I put 1 and 4 at TDC and checked them, no rod/bearing issues, same as 2 and 3, no play, solid. when i look at the piston tops, the arrows point to the right instead of the left like I've seen before but the car ran before so I guess they're ok. the engine turns over great with the starter no noises or anything. but when checking the crank pulley ect ect. i turned it over by hand and heard some noise from the pan, but it only lasted about 1 sec then quit, and hasn't done it all day. I'd pull the pan off but, i have no way of putting oil back in it, and the car would sit w/o oil for a while. also the crank's timing sprocket seems to have a chip missing from it..... shouldn't be hard to replace but still aggravating. one question i have is should i bring the BS stuff back up to par, or remove it? because Ive gotten mixed opinions, such as it will vibrate like hell without it, and with it, they go out and kill the crank. also, I thought that the factory SMIC is straight? and one last thing, anyone know any bit to what these wires go to that have been cut? the car's airbags are missing so maybe they're related, but when i give the shell juice, the radio comes on but wants a code that no one seems to know around here,
, and the headlights don't come on, and sunroof wont move, and the AC blower motor doesnt kick on, but cruise control gets current, turn signals work, brake lights work, no running lights, no hi beams, the AC switch turns the radiator fan on, and the cigarette lighter and reading lamps get current. maybe some things just aren't connected, idk I tried to spend as much time on the engine today,
what good is AC if the car doesn't run, the windows and looks work though,
.
I'll have a new turbo on the way soon because this one is shot, and send the head out to be looked over/redone.
just want a few opinions on what to do with the balancing shaft stuff. but from what it looks like, it seems as if someone was doing a timing belt at home, and then lost all interest/money or they were rebuilding slowly, I wish I could speak to the previous owner to find out why its in this shape to begin with.

^^ these are the wires from the harness coming to the pass. side front, I plan to reconnect them, i just don't know what they're for, the air bag sensors, or for the headlights/ running lights
