96 Eclipse, Intermitten 2nd, 4th, nd Reverse.

Hey guys, my wifes 96 420a is extremely tempermentL about going into mainly reverse, but will also do it to 2nd and 4th. I just installed the aluminum bushings on the tranny side of the linkage (currently not wanting to even think about internal issues ### the trannys supposed to be new.) And the bushings at the shifter seems to be good. From my investigation it seems like the cable moving the selector for and aft doesnt go quite far enough. Any ideas??? I'm leaning towards somethin loose I hope thanks for the help

Check all the clips and bolts and spacing at the trans and shifter. It's most likely a linkage problem.

i know its something external i can put it into all the gears on the tranny.. but i'm seeing nothing wrong with anything so far.

You need to adjust your linkages/cables.

All fixed!!! The horseshoe clip on the fore and aft selector cable was m.i.a. (If I ever see the guy I bought this POS from I'm gonna kick him square in his teeth!!!) No idea where I could of found one, so I went down to my local auto parts store and bought some body shims and broke out the Dremel!! Thanks for the help guys
