Hello, I am new to this dsmtuners site. I am looking at buying a 96-99 Eclipse Gst. I'm not sure if their worth it or not?! People tell me all the time their just a piece of crap. I do really like them and want one. They seem like fast, nice, sporty looking cars. I wanna know all your thoughts about them?

I also can get a 1996 GST with 157,xxx miles for about $2,400. Has new turbo, radiator, semi new timing belt and he will be getting the water pumped changed for me before i purchase it.

What are your thoughts to both questions? Any replies would help and thank you!

It really depends on what you plan to do with the car, and if you like to modify cars. DSM's do have a history of being "Junk" BUT! In my opinion, It's only just if you make it that way. If you just want a car to drive around in, just keep the maintenance up. Like any other car and you will be fine. If you like to upgrade and such, do a LOT of reading before doing so or stuff will get broke LOL. Happy DSMing!

Just remember, every DSM is different in it's own way :thumb:

People say the are crap because they never had one and if they did they weren't good owners. I love my 95 gsT and it has been good to me. In the past year I put about 20k into two builds and that's because I chose to. If you want it just to go fast and beat on it then of course it's going to break just like any car would if you just beat in it. Or do you want It for daily driving? If so they that's fine, just keep up maintenance like the above post mentioned and it'll be fine. Now if you want it to go fast and build the car fith be ready to have a lot of spare time and deep pockets. These cars are very strong and can do just about anything you want them too. If you want a 300hp reliable daily driver then it won't cost much and would be easier to maintaine then say a 500+whp daily would. Honestly bro, if your going on what other people say and have doubts then your probably not ready for a Dsm. It has to be something you want, not what people suede you to buy. If I had a choice to do it all over again I would, but that's just me a genuine DsManiac LOL. Hope this helps.

don't buy the first one you see. Keep an eye out for the right one and you wont be disappointed.
