i need a new motor for my 1995 Eagle Talon TSI Fwd with the 2.0l turbo engine

what motor will fit this car? Its automatic FWD car, Will the 4g63 turbo engine fit? only 2nd gen engine or will the first gen fit? Whats a good site to buy a rebuilt motor from? I Dont need a race engine just stock for now :)

Thanks guys

Hopefully you will see this response before the mods shut this thread down. First do your homework by searching on here. Yes a 1g 6bolt motor will work, but things like motor mounts and trans mounts are part of the difference, so a lot of fabrication is in order. 2ndly, what is a wrong with the current motor, it may save you a lot of effort to just rebuild the motor in your car now. Unless theirs a hole in the block, that should be attainable.

i belive the 6 bolt 4g63 is almost if not the same engine mounts as the 7bolt 4g63, which is what you have. The 7bolt motor came in 95-99 turbo dsms. If you do some searching on this site and others, you will find out that these motors are known for crankwalk (crankshaft having too much play, search to find out more). So I would recomend to find a 6 bolt motor because they are immune to crank walk as said on some sites. To tell a 6 bolt from a 7 bolt click this link-->> http://www.vfaq.com/mods/early-late-engine.html . Cars 90-92 1/2 have the 6 bolt motor. You will probably need the 1g (90-94) transmission to bolt up with the 6 bolt, or maybe not, im not positive on this one so some one correct me.

the 2 g mounts are DEFINATELY DIFFERENT im almost sure its the bolt location on the block and YES you do need the 1g trans to go with it. if the switch was easy, everyone would do it. you need everything fromt he ECU. Its not a cake walk by any means!

He wont need a new ecu, go to magnus motorsports, they have a very usefull write-up on how to do it, if you search i am sure you will find the link,, look for "1gina2g"

Only real modification is to the driverside motor mount and spark plug wires..

and your trans should bolt right up..

If you need to change your engine i would find a nice 6 bolt (1g) and use that, help avoid the Walking Crank!

Misinformation :nono: AS said above its not that bad of a swap no trans swap neccasary, just the flywheel. You do have to modify the motormount, but uts not bad. Im not going to turn this into a "how to do a 6 bolt swap thread" RRE and Magnus has some good info on this subject

i just did a 6bolt swap and differences are cutting the driver side motor mount, shaving tensioner bracket and make sure u have the right 6bolt flywheel, spark plug wire arrangement switch 4 wit h1, 2 with 3 pretty sure and u can get the CAS plug and play harness from RRE. that is pretty much it off the top of my head.
