Shift fork for 3rd and 4th gear has seem to break, so instead of paying $500-$800 for another(used) tranny, im gunna rip this one out and tear into to it myself. I found a diagram on here for disassemble, but it isn't really all that good of a diagram, only shows from one view. Does anyone know where to find better diagrams, schematics, or even step by step? :rocks:

I have several detailed tutorials listed on this forum to fix this exact problem. Do a search. Use key words like "shift fork replacement w5m33 f5m33".

The transmission you have is a F5M33. The steel forks are not made for the fwd 1/2 nor the 3-hole 93-99 3/4 fork.

Take it apart and I can give you the part numbers for whatever you broke.

I finally got the time to tear into my tranny. Good news is its not the shift fork, its the rod that goes thru the shift fork. The little C shape end broke off and thats i had no 3rd or 4th. Thank you everybody for the help.

It's pretty much a $30 part. You will need a fwd 1994-1999 3/4 shift rail. If you need a part number, or the part itself let me know.

MD749451 - List price is $41.98.

I have them in stock as well.

I think you should never deal with your stealership again. Holy ripoff; they are charging 300% the list price.

Not really; I have probably 20 3/4 shift forks in stock.

If you have your Mitsubishi receipt for the fork, simply return it.

Well the thing is, when i went to the dealership, they had to order it from thier wharehouse or whatever down in Cali (im in Oregon). Any parts that were not in stock that they had to order are non-refundable. I know its bs, but policy is policy :( I did do a search with the part number you gave me, and found a site that does have them for $35.00. How much do you want for one, and how long will it take for you to ship it to Oregon?
