The speed sensor that was originally in my car wasn't working right cause that little metal hook wasn't attached. Instead of bothering to fix it, i just purchased a new used transmission from ebay since my current one was giving out anyways. Upon receiving the new transmission (97 eclipse manual with 90k miles, or so it claimed) it had also come with the speed sensor but the pigtails didn't match up from the car to the transmission so we just plugged in the original speed sensor into the new transmission.
Once i got around to driving it, it was skipping at higher RPM, almost like a constant backfire with some loss of power. We unplugged the speed sensor and everything was good again, aside from check engine coming on/off occasionally since no speed sensor is plugged in.'
And now my question, im pretty sure the new transmission i got that had the speed sensor with a different hook up connection, was from a 97 eclipse. Does this mean i need to get a speed sensor for a 97 eclipse as well as a new pigtail to match (clip the old pigtail and solder the new pigtail on) ? Or could it be the sensor that's on it now is perfectly fine for that model but i just need a new one?
My car is a 95 eagle talon non turbo 2.0. I think the engine is a 420A ?.
