OK i went to autozone jst now to get my check engine light diagnosis and they said they cant run the test on it since its a 95 and just didnt bother. Does anyone know if its the same plug in harness as newer dsm's? (96-99)?

anyone?

your dsm should be a plug in. the 95 and 96 are exactly the same and i have a 96 and i have plugged it in many of times. the diagnostic tool that they use is really cheap and is worth buying. two checks and you have already paid for it. the plug is right above your pedals. you should be able to feel it if you feel around where your dashboard ends under there. i think its to the right of the steering wheel. not sure though. but mainly it is under there.

ok thanks :)
so autozone should be able to run the diagnostic test?

'95 is obd I. In '96 they changed to obd II.
Different plug.

No, that's not right. DSMs went to OBDII in '95, all 2Gs are OBDII. '96 was the federally mandated year OBDII was required, some manufacturers went OBDII earlier.

Rule 3.

the thing about 95's is they are both obdI and obdII....when it comes to emissions you can get pipe tested and not ecu tested becuase technically it is an obdI car

but when i used to own my old 95 gst...and it was tagged as december of 1994...which is where the obdI craze is a part of....i was still able to plug my obdII reader into the harness under the dash...

autozone will be able to do it..if they say they cant..then they are lazy and u should talk to their manager....

NOPE. all cars went OBD 2 in 95 meaning any car build in 94 and up was already OBD2 compliant, no one unless its a pro shop will test your ecu its against smog rules in some states they wont test you car at all regardless of year unless its a shop. fear of ppl deleting their lights and then getting smog check.

i just went with link its has build in code reader:thumb:
still say its the best investment even the 'LITE' version
logger, tuning, code reader=win.

Actually early 95 eclipse's were OBDI late model's were OBDII. On my 95 420a U can read both. There is a black plug for OBDII readers and supposedly a white plug for OBDI readers.

Before I got my OBDII reader I used the infamous "Key Dance" to check the OBDI codes. Here is a link on how do do that if your car supports it.

Other than that Autozone, Checker or Advance did it for me.

If it's a '95 it's OBD2.
