Ok so I think I broke my center diff or viscous somehow.
Heres what it does
On a lift you can turn either front wheel without it spinning the other. The left seems to spin something inside the trans the right just seems to spin the axle. While doing this you can hear clicking like stripped gears inside the trans. Once in awhile it will grab and then the 2 front spin in opposite directions like normal but it doesnt spin the back wheels at all.
If you spin a back wheel forwards sometimes all 4 spin and sometimes just the rear 2 and the driveshaft
If you run it in gear while in the air occasinally the front wheels catch and will spin but most of the time just the rear. However you dont hear the stripped gear sound.
Driving it it doesnt feel like any power is going to the front. The back end spins and slides even on light acceleration. Occasinally you get a popping grabbing kind of noise from the front.
Any chance this is just an axle problem? It seems to have full power none of the clutch slipping feel that I've heard related to having a broken axle.
I'm still searching and reading but I havent found anything quite the same as mine and I dont understand how it all relates quite well enough yet to figure it out. I know I need to pull the tranny anyway to replace my ACT clutch disc that the damm spring popped out of but I want to check anything neccesary before pulling it.
I also have 2 1g awd trannies with syncro problems. Any chance I can use the center diff from one of them as long as my 2g bellhousing is okay?
