I'm in the process of completing a mold for the top on spyders. while i enjoy the convert and all, it is the loudest rattling thing in the world. So with the help of a friend who also happens to do body work we are creating a mold for a replacement targa style roof for the spyder. So far things are going well and the mold should be completed by next weekend. The top will be made of reinforced fiberglass. I was planning on simply making one and done. however since i will have the mold and the know how to make the tops i was wondering how many spyder owners would be interested in such a top for their cars? most people will tell you to sell your car and buy a hardtop but for some thats just not an option. So again how many of us spyder owners would really enjoy a hardtop option?

I'd kill for something that looked cleaner than a ragtop and still gave you the option of wind in your hair... The only reason I didn't buy an AWD spyder conversion when I got the current dsm is that rag tops like total ass. Especially on these cars, it just ####s the body line totally.

Cool. I finished the mold today for the removable section of the top. Came out perfect, and read for the glass very soon. The latter section is not going to have the same convert look. Im upgrading to a slightly larger window and adapting a rounder roof line to smooth out the body lines. The second I have a prototype it will be posted. And for the record it will be extremely affordable

Sounds pretty damn intersting. One thing though, try not to discuss price or interest...this thread will get shut down if you're not a vendor

I would like to see a picture though :D

Augustin is right please don't mention pricing or anything... im interested in how it looks as well, but another big thing is how well it seals

i havent met anyone with a rag top that didnt leak sold mine for that reason. cant wait to see pics

Also list any weight savings if applicable. I assume you would be ripping out the convertible motor and everything?

My top doesn't leak at all... took it to a shop who replaced my top for 1k, custom fabbed the brackets that break, and modified it a tiny bit so it stays taught... also set it up so it has an amazing seal
