Local HS kid's 94 GS auto tranny went out. I have a VIN code M (1992) auto tranny to swap in but the sensor placement is different. The 92 has a 'trans speed' sensor on top of the trans and the 94 has it on the end plate at the overdrive clutch pack. What can I do to get the trans to work? Thanks

It's going to take some work to get it wired up and you will need the 92 tcu. As you will notice the two tcu's have different connectors and you have already noticed that the trans conectors are different. So you will have to find the harness for the 92' and either wire in the correct connectors to the 94' or swap out the entire harness which would be the easiest and best option. The 94' is the odd ball out of the 91' to 94's. Once you swap out the entire harness then you can use any 91 to 93 tranny.

The easiest fix for this as far as the TCU's are concerned is to re-pin the connectors. This is done by un-pinning the two plugs and re-pinning the wires into the 3 plugs. This is incredibly time consuming!

I made a jumper harness that goes from two plug to three plug. This is more time consuming but leaves your harness intact. I can give more details if interested.
