I need to know what I need for sure. The other threads are vague and everytime I read about putting my shep stage 3 from my 91 into my 90 someone jumps in and asks how to put a 90 into a 92 to 94. I just need to know how to put my91 into my 90 do I need to change the shifter base from my 91 and the cables and the bracket from my 91 or the bracket from my 90. The lever that is attached to the actual trans doesn't need to be changed. Is this correct HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read the forums and everyone of them is vauge and somehow change from installing a 91 in a 90 to a 90 in a 91 and up. I have a shep stage three brand new and it's out of a 91awd. I want to install to a 90 awd. Is this correct. I need from 91- shifter base cables and that's it or do I need the 91 bracket or the 90. Also do I need to change the lever on the actual trans or not. Please Help and submit concrete for sure facts PLEASE< PLEASE. I'm begging at this point. Thank you

Exactly i learned that i have a 90 turbo tranny and had to keep everything from that
transmission, earlier i used the 92 stuff and it wasnt working at all. With the 90 trans
that is.

You would think cables thats it.......cause the cables would be a diff length to compensate for the shorter shifter arms on the 91 + tranny's.

90's long shift arms

91+ shorter shift arms....

= my opinion of the cables being diff lengths.....?

I haven't done it in an awd, but I have put a 91 tranny into my 90. I don't think there is a difference when changing parts for the other years though. All I needed was the 1991 bracket that bolts to the shifter cables and the transmission. It is a small metal piece. You do not have to change the shifter and shifter cables unless you want the shorter throw. I personally like the feel of the 90 shifter, so I kept it.
