I have a 91 Talon TSi AWD automatic with plenty done to it and I’m going to invest this winter so I’m looking for the best advise, do’s and dont’s as well as the necessary to make it work please. Upgrades are as follows:
GSC 274 cams.
AEM adjustable cam gears.
GSC beehive springs.
GSC guides.
New but oem valves.
ARP cam bolts.
ARP head studs.
Gates water pump.
All new pulleys.
EPROM ECU but need to send away still.
Magnecor 2.5mm performance plug wires.
NGK Br7 plugs.
Front mount Intercooler (big).
3inch turbo back exhaust with Megan down pipe.
Aftermarket blow off valve-needs replacement to better, options ?
Evo 3 turbo needs replacement-what options should I look for ?
Aftermarket fuel rail-needs replacement ?
Aftermarket fuel regulator but not adjustable-needs replacement ?
650 injectors- I imagine will need bigger ?
300 fuel pump.
I believe a 2G MAF.
The bigger oil filter housing.
I bought solid lifter but can’t get them to work properly with the thicker cam lobes ?

Things I know I need to do are get the EPROM ECU done ECMLink I believe it’s called, new idle sensor, add extra fuel filter, heat wrap, better exhaust manifold but depends on turbo.

Things I’m curious about, what do I need to do to the auto trans with all these upgrades (I have to drive auto do to left arm injury) especially since my plan is hopefully 450 hp. Same with transfer case.

Is it really worth port and polishing the factory head is not too bad. I'm sure there’s stuff I’m forgetting/missing.

Please let me know don’t hold back other than insults of course, but let me know all the advice and needs thanks in advance.

Hey guys I need lots of help, I bought a 91 Talon this year after finally getting a disability settlement I’d been waiting on, for three years. It’s a car that I plan to own and cherish for the rest of life and pass to my son, that he takes to prom and so forth. The car body wise was in great shape and was running great when I checked it out. But upon getting home I found so much hack work. In welded turbo boost control hose, plumping fittings in the front mount Intercooler lines, blown head gasket, just to mention of few.
So I bought lots I parts and still need more, what I’m looking for in advice is what I’m missing and what I should do so forth so here’s the description: I’d like to be close to 500 hp
It has new gsc 274 cams.
AEM adjustable cam gears.
Gates water pump and all new pulleys.
650 injectors but I think I should change ?
A evo three turbo but lose I’m changing but to what ?
I just got a great Intercooler should I run 3” pipe?
I need to change blow off recommendations?
I have factory valves new but know I should change better what should I get?
It does have new valve guides
It does have 3” turbo back with Megan down pipe
I need exhaust manifold which ?
I do have a programmable EPROM just need to send it in to be done
It has new bk7 plugs
I has new magnacore wires
I bought billet throttle body but the new throttle doesn’t have a spot for the sensor that the cable turning part touches ?
I’m sure I’m missing stuff but please read and let me know I need all the help I can get please

For 500 yes...but there is more to it.
A evo three turbo but lose I’m changing but to what ?
Depends on other things.
I just got a great Intercooler should I run 3” pipe?
Again. Depends on goals. Probably not.
I need to change blow off recommendations?
Why does it need changed?
I have factory valves new but know I should change better what should I get?
why? For what reason?
It does have new valve guides
It does have 3” turbo back with Megan down pipe
I need exhaust manifold which ?
Again...goals and use.

To do a build you should first decide what you want the car to do. Read the post.

For valve’s it’s more a question shouldn’t I have gsc’s or etc instead of oem even if new
For exhaust manifold because it’s factory at the moment and I’m sure I need more flow

You can change anything you want. The point of my post is an understanding of what a part does and how before deciding if you need it.
In my opinion things need to be part if a plan. I've seen way too many " I'm going to make xxxhp" build only to have the owner be disappointed with the end results because if how the car behaves. Thats if they ever finish. These aren't larger displacement cars so area under the power curve is very different. Everybody seems to want a " punch" when they stab the throttle but you move the powerband up chasing hp and that goes away in favor of more revs. It changes the driving style.

Doing a bunch of crazy head work isn’t going to help you make a bunch of power and it’s often debated if aftermarket valves help much of anything, more of a replacement when oversized valves are necessary but won’t really help you make any power, and as far as porting the head sure it could help but there’s ways to hit your goal easier and reliably without doing that, as just like the valves people have gone pretty damn fast without any port work on the head casting. If the bottom end of the engine is healthy then you could hit your 500-ish goal easy with what you have engine wise with the right turbo set up, proper tune, and also based on fuel selection/availability. More than one way to skin a cat but tearing back into the head may be over thinking it a bit. As far as which exhaust manifold that’s all based on what turbo you go with, if you stay with something stock flange then a ported stock 2g manifold or FP race manifold will be perfectly sufficient for your goal. My advice is read through various posts and build threads documented here over the years and see which route is right for you.

Thanks for replies I’m mostly buying head components because I started the head so I’d like it totally rebuilt the plan is bottom end next winter
