Alright I just purchased my first DSM a 91 TSi AWD Talon, that needs tranny work or rebuild. My goals with this car is 12's realistically and hoping to pull 11's, so I want to do this tranny thing right so it can handle the horsepower. From all the topics i have read I imagine that will be some were around 400hp (I am new to DSM's so this might be wrong). Another thing time is not a issue and i have alot of real car mechanic friends that could help me build it myself in the garage if that is possibly? If not what route do you recommend? Any advice would be helpfull I have searched and read a few forums I know about sheperd and that is one of my options right now.
Thanks in advance

id say go with shep, you know its being done right at least and his trannys have been proven on the track. thats the route im going on my 90' anyway.

Alright the shep seems to be the popular choice, and yeah that is true getting it done right the first with out messing with it.

My next questions is then what upgrades do you think is essential for getting 12's maybe 11's without the tranny going out? Cause I don't really have the $$$ to get the $2200 race tranny. Or do you guys think i should just save and get the complete race tranny?
