Can this swap happen easily? I have a 91 GS motor that I rebuilt from the ground up and just bought a 95 eclipse with a hole in the piston. Both are 2.0 DOHC 4G63 engines... Just need to know whats involved in swapping motors and if it can be done with little work. Not scared to do work, just don't have the time right this moment....

im sure you can but check around on the nt forums for that info.. i know with the NT engine you have a higher compression raito and no oil squirters, both things may not be good or bad..

check out the nt forums also look on magnus motorsports website for a 6bolt in a 2g swap info..

You can't do it easily.
Your 95 eclipse has a 420A > a chrysler motor.... (completely different). OBD-2
Your 91 eclipse has a 4g63 (as you stated above) .... It is OBD-1. Wiring. Mounts...

Swapping those motor is possible if you have the money (a lot!), time and another Daily driver car. But, is not worth it. the best bet will be searching for an used 420A motor out of the junkyard.
I did it in my old 95 GS and that was something easy to do....

So... basically i'm screwed.... Lets see... anyone knows anyone that needs a 2.0 DOHC 4G63? rebuilt 100%!!!

Are the 420A and 4G63 blocks the same? Can I take the block for the 4G63 and bolt my 420A head on there and it'll work???????? I need to know asap. I need to get this car running. Its my baby :(

Nop, sorry your best bet is sell the 4g63 or trade it for a 420A.... There is nothing easy to do other than that...

Try the classified (I think you have to be a proven member)

Well, what would exactly be involved in swapping the 4g63 into the 95 420A car?? Nobody ever said that. I have the ENTIRE 90 GS that the 4g63 came out of.....

Ok, it seems that I am going to sell the 4g63 engine and buy another 420A motor... Which engines from which cars will fit in the eclipse? Will the 2.4l 420A fit? What would be involved in swapping that engine into the 2.0 chassis? I think I might just stick with the 2.0 420A...

Ok from 1996-1999 the only possible swap you can do is a Sypder n/t 2.4 (4g64) to 2.0 (4g63t) found in GS-Ts and GSXs that will not cost alot of money. Now you are asking to do the impossible. If you took a good look at the engines and you will notice a BIG difference in them. The 420a is not a Mitsubishi motor at all and I don't even think the blocks are the same either. You have options sell the 1g 4g63 n/t engine and buy a new old 420a or just have the one you have rebuilt. Like what was said early it WILL cost ALOT of money, just put it like this you can buy a GS-T or GSX for how much it will cost to do that swap. If you still don't believe we are giving you good advice read up on it and see for yourself.:thumb:
