I am rebuilding my rear calipers on my 1990 Talon TSI AWD. I have them completely disassembled except for the Guide Pin which is holding the caliper to the bracket. How is the Guide Pin removed? The bolt is recessed into the bracket and there is not enough room to get a socket on it. I checked two different 'shop manuals' (Haynes/Chiltons) and I've checked the manual on CD (and also searched here). None give specific directions for seperating the bracket from the caliper (and thereby removing the Guide Pin) except to say 'pull them apart'.
Once the Lock Pin is removed, does the bracket in fact slide off of the Guide Pin before actually losening the Guide Pin from the caliper (just like how the mounting bracket seperates from the caliper on the 2G front, 2 piston calipers while the Guide Pin is still screwed to the caliper)? I tried simply pulling them apart and it was a no go. I thought I would ask the question here before trying to pound these apart.
If this is not clear, let me know and I will try to clarify. I could potentially get pics if that would help too.
Thanks in advance for any help.
