Sidney,
I've been searching around and trying to find a step by step process to rebuilding 1g rear brakes calipers. Anybody direct me to a page, or give me a quick walk through. My Haynes manual (i know they are not the best) doesn't even mention caliper rebuilding. Any help is greatly appreciated

I just had a friend tell me I don't need to rebuild the calipers, when I put on my new rotors and pads, I cleaned and greased the slider pins....they seemed a little stiff, but they moved fairly freely. My brakes don't seem to drag (no bad brake smell) but they feel hotter on the back then they do at the front. He said that'll happen until the pads properly seat. Is this true?

When I last did pads (and caliper replacement) some rims got hotter than others. I thought it would just take a couple days of driving to clear up, but after several days nothing changed. I eventually solved the problem by repressing the calipers until they were in as far as they could go. it was a difference of probably 1/16th of an inch, but it made a big difference.

The wheel should never get *hot* to the touch. I know of some wheels that get warm but a hot wheel is not normal. Your pads could be dragging or chances are, that your piston(s) in the caliper are shot. They should turn in very easy.

I had a problem with a seized caliper, got a used one from www.maddsm.com . $20 shipped for me, maybe a little more depending on location. Arrived in 3 days, and works perfect. E-mail him if you decide to get another caliper all together... :thumb:

well, all seems fine now. I did not rebuild the caliper, nothing is sticking, i'm stopping well, no burning brake smell and the rim is only warm to the touch, same as the fronts.

My e-brake part is froze up. I have it half way apart but how do i get that pin out? Do i need to screw the piston in first or what?

Im haveing problems with my brakes too. When I apply the brakes, my car shakes violently. I Shakes also, when I am going over 55 MPH. And the read driver side caliper is sticking. I can hear it grinding when I move. How would you guys go about fixing that? I have new rotors, but when I tried to take my calipers off, the bolts snapped!
