Bottom line I was looking at a '90 GSX with 170k for only 1,000 bucks.
Finally got the owner to take it to my mechanic.
He strongly recommended against buying it.
Oil leaks all over the place. Lower control arms bad, front right driveshaft, CV joints,
1st-2nd synchro worn out on transmission, lots of other little stuff etc....He said it needed about 2,000 worth of work just to be road worthy. However he said the compression on the engine was ok and the turbo was in fair condition. People on here were saying just shells go for 500, so maybe it might still be a worthwhile car for someone who is looking for a project ?
I thought it would be a good car to mess around with and have fun working on, but it turns out to be more than I want to get into at the moment. If anyone else is interested let me know and I'll forward the information.
