well just got a 90 talon the other day pulled the upper timing cover off, inspected the belt teeth are all good and tension was good about 1/8in with adequate pressure well move it around the house and cheked it again and it was about 1/4in to 3/8in play. I plan on doing a tbelt job on it pretty soon but should I be ok for a few weeks like this? Im assuming it is the automatic tensioner which I will obviously will replace when i do the belt.

Another issue, Im not sure if the guy that had the car before me had the boost/vacuum lines right I tried looking on vfaq for a diagram but i could find it. Should the hose off the j-pipe be "t-ed" off to the wastegate act. and up to the BCS?
any help would be appreciated. Ill post pics when I get home from work
Thanks
Branden

If you do not have a MBC then yes, it should go to the BCS as that's the stock routing. When you do your belt be sure to replace the 2 pulleys, auto tensioner, and balance shaft belt if you are not going to install an elimination kit.

I was thinking about doing the bs elim. but yeah I planned on replacing the whole "timing system" but do you think i will be okay with the amount of slack that the belt is showing?

i was new at my dsm. if you don't know how to eliminate the balance shaft, just don't do it because it could really messed everything up. just replace the belt along with everything else when you do your timing belt.

Another issue that I forgot to mention is that it runs low oil pressure at idle, i havent done a oil change on it yet, are oil pumps typically an issue on the 4g63? Im hopin that a fresh oil change will bring the pressure back, I know with old heavy chevys you could tell it was time for an oil change when the pressure started dropping.

me an my buddies rebuilt a 6 bolt before but the bs was already removed, prob just gonna leave it on (if its there)
