90 engine in 91. Need help ASAP

Tomorrow I'm putting my 90 engine into a 91. Everything from the 90 is going into the 91 except the engine harness. Can I just swap the engine and connect the computer to the 91 Or do I have to change the harness as well? The 91 was a TSi AWD and the 90 is a TSI FWD. I did search and came up with this

ps There is nothing but the engine mounts and the harness in the 91

I took the cars to the mechanic and after playing with them for a week he tells me that he can't swap the engines for 2 reasons. 1.The 91 is an AWD and has a right and left center member, while the 90 a FWD only has a center member. 2.Almost everything is in a different place and that he can't make the cruse control work. Can someone please tell me that he's wrong and that this can be done. Cause I've been planning this for a long time and now that I could finnaly afford it this guy's telling me it's impossible.

It is possible. I have a 91 engine/trans in my 90 car. The sensors and wiring harness's between the years are completely different though. Since you do not have all the sensors off the 91 motor to put onto the 90 engine you are going to have to swap the engine wiring harness and the ecu.

The FWD Tranny wont work on a AWD car. That and the axles are different GOOD LUCK

If you want cruise control simply swap that between the 2 cars to, or eliminate it all togeather

Why won't the FWD tranny work in the AWD? I don't want to make it AWD, I want it to be FWD.

mounting locations for things are different. Yout gonna have to get ahold of an AWD Transmission and transfrecase for things to go smoothly

But I guess with a little custom modification you can drill holes for the mounts to mount everything the same way its done in the fwd.
