87 or 91 Octane for my 90 Talon Tsi?

Im picking up my 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo with 146k on it tomarrow and I already test drove it and its low on gas. What octane should I use in it 87 Octane or 91 Octane when I fill it up tommarrow? I know you'll say 91 Octane but is it recommended by the manufacture or really needed? Thanks

Never put 87. Been there, done that. it messed up my fuel trim horribly and had to end up siphoning up the gas since i dont trust those "Octane boosters"

91 is the minimum recommended for the turbo dsm models. i would try to get even 93 if you can. if you put 87 in it, it will knock like hell and the ecu will take all the timing out, and it will run like crap, or blow up.

Okay I don't wanna blow up my first dsm on the first day of owning it. I'll put 91 in it. Sadly no 93 Octane fuel around my area

get it tuned for e85 and you'll have fun haha

91 for sure. i run nothing less than 93, i even drive serveral miles out of my way to get it.

noticable difference in driveability between 87 and 91. dont chance it.
