Driving about 80mph in 3rd and i hear a bang and steam blows out of my hood...

it was coming from the timing belt side...

the engine didnt knock but after the incident happend when the steam came out it started to knock...

ive been told its probly a spun bearing but any ideas on what the steam came from?

This all happend real fast... i put the motor in that i bought let it run before i drove it and at once it blew out white smoke like a semi truck! Then it cooled down and it wouldnt smoke after the car warms up it shows smoke out the exhaust white smoke...

There was no leaks on the ground or anything so im sure nothing leaked out of the motor... i took out all of the bolts that hold the pan in now how do i pull the pan off and how do i inspect everything? What should i look for

For a quick check, you can try pulling and replacing the spark plug wires one at a time with the engine running. A spun rod bearing will typically stop "knocking" when you remove the spark from its cylinder. Find the plug wire that stops the knocking, and you've found the rod bearing that gave up the fight. On the other hand, if the knocking persists for all four cylinders, you might be looking for something else. . .

Thanks donmagicjuan im going to let the tsi rest untill i get more funds so i can fix it all at once im going to start the car and try pulling the plugs and hope i found my problem i have 2 long blocks so could i exhange parts with the other to make ONE good engine?

The head gasket needs changed whats a good gasket for a daily driver on stock boost and stock setup i want to keep the car stock and find an AWD later on

Just stick with the stocker. No need to worry about getting mirror surface finishes and messing around with an MLS gasket if you're only going to keep it stock. The OEM composites can hold their own as long as the torque sequence is followed to the letter (still running on my original gasket and 25 psi). And don't forget to replace the head bolts when you do the job. Opt for some ARP studs and you'll never have to replace them again. :thumb:
