8 second Mirage

Hey there

We had our car out at last weekend at Northern Nationals here in New Zealand. This is the third meet since we have had our car back together

Had an awesome days racing and managed to better the 8.77 @158 mph pass we did a fortnight earlier in Masterton with a 8.46 @ 160mph

Car ran awesome - Four out of the seven passes we did throughout the weekend were 8 second passes but the only clean pass was the 8.46 as we were bogging off the line

here is some footage from both inside and out of the car - unfortunately we dont have any footage of the 8.46.

Damnit I really gotta find a way to work it out so I switch hemispheres in winter race season all year long. Nice freakin passes by the way.

The car looked a little a little loose after the chute, was that just the video or does the car get funny?

Car was a little skatty when Chute was out - lets just say Meremere isnt the flattest track ever!

I had some problems with my car before and the chute mount height and cord length it was actually lifting the rear tires. I did some 180mph roundy rounds from that so any time the car acts funny when the chute deploys I get freaked out about it.

That car is Daniel Tyes Rotary powered Mazda 323 hatch - he is quickest in the class - 0.001 seconds ahead of us!

those rotaries are fast as hell. He is running a 3 rotor or 2 rotor?

Running methonal seems to be a nice approach with alot of these race cars now. I am suprised they are not running a 20B. Then again the 20B weighs about 2/3 more.

When was running methonal not a good idea for race cars? More boost with the same or slightly less risk has always been a good thing
