You said a cylinder was low on compression...what were the numbers again?

And I gotta see this receipt to believe that you're not making it up to cover up a newb mistake. Scan it in or take a picture of it. I find it hard to believe that you specifically asked for cam seals but didnt bother to check to see if they were in there. Im thinking that you didnt know what a cam seal was until you noticed that they were missing.

Not sure if it was done right or my piston rings aren't perfect -145, 150, 140, 122. Idk if your getting a rise out of this or something but I know what a cam seal is considering before I got my head built the exhaust seal, cas o-ring, and front crank seal was leaking and I looked into replacing it, then the HG blew so I went all out up top. I've done my share of work and acquired plenty of knowledge. I've had the car for two years now and spent about 17 of those months wrenching on it. It's a simple as I assumed they put cam seals in because I paid for them, didn't look because I had doubt about the felpro sealing combined with my abilities, and further reassured myself with a compression test. I honestly believe the first time the hg was "hung up", we had trouble with it sitting and the leak was a little different the first time, it was more up front and we spotted NO oil near the intake cam during the whole 45 seconds we had it running.

Seriously ? I mean after spending $1500 in parts I kinda assumed two $10 cam seals are gonna be in there after talking to Jon directly about them being put it, (along with other smaller things not PRINTED on the receipt like cam shims, valve guides, half moon plug and cam seals, the only thing out of all of them not installed. Are you starting to see my point of view or all you still hell bent on trying to call a "newb" out on something ?

No, Im not getting a "rise" out of anything.

So you're saying that the cam seals were not on the receipt?

I'm just saying its out of the ordinary to have cam seals installed when buying a machined head from a machine shop.

Regardless, a little more "attention to detail" and it could have been noticed right away. Perhaps you would have noticed it while you painted your stock cam gears. ;)

What are your impressions of the $1500 head you bought? Does the car run and have good compression now? Did it look nice when you got it? Is it milled nice and straight?

I'll bet you anything that the valve guides were never replaced and you dont have any "cam shims" at all.....unless you bought some bogus regrind cams that require shims. Stock cams and good aftermarket cams just drop right in. If the valve guides arent bent or broken, there really isnt a need to replace them. I wouldnt remove them if they arent broken. Typically, if they do break, its due to seriously bent valves and the head is garbage anyways.

You purchased a half moon plug? That comes in a valve cover gasket set. I know they make some aluminum plug, but that thing is junk.

So what else was not on your receipt that you didnt get?

I know I wish i would've looked, but hey like I said I felt we did the HG better the second time around. The car runs fine, lifters are ticking but the car only ran for about 7 minutes total. I purchased a half moon gasket because I had new spark plugs gaskets and VC gasket, just needed the rubber half moon. I purchased Delta 274's, DSM graveyard made their selves look dumb by accidentally getting "their" cams sent to me from Delta WITH shims so I'm 90% sure their in there. I sent them a complete head and told them I want a complete head back, Jon told me that would be no problem, the reason I got guides is because I wanted EVERYTHING new in the head because I had no idea of the damage inside caused by the previous owner you know ? I didn't get my cam gears, cam gear bolts or exhaust studs but they sent all of that at no charge:

- btw DSMGV sent me my cam seals today, overnight shipping :thumb: (at no charge:hmm:)
