well the stinson beach didn't have the turnout I was hoping for but it was really fun and it was nice meeting some new people out there. Well I discussed this a with a couple people at the meet and I think I twist to the mt hamilton run would be nice to set up for next month. So that's what we are going to do. The meet will be early in the mourning to keep traffic on the road to a minimum but it will be worth is trust me.

Here's the deal:

The route will be 84 west take skyline south and then 9 west into santa cruz. Grab a bite to eat and then head back the same way or if you don't feel like the aggresive driving on the way back you can hit 17 back to the major freeway's and head home from there.

We will meet in redwood city somewhere becuase that's where the cruise will start. I want to leave the meet spot by 830am at the latest so that there are not that many other drivers on the road. This is a fairly long cruise so keep that in mind.

There will be two groups of drivers the "spirited" group and the more chill group. if you want to be in a certain are of the group just me know and we will make sure to have people in an order I don't want people pushing themselves past their limits and going off the road. example if you are not sure if you want to be in the sprited group or the other group ask to be in the rear of the spirited group or the front of the "slower" group.

I couple of things to check up on before going on this cruise.

-make sure your brake fluid is fairly new
-make sure your brakes are in excellant workign condition(this is very very very important)
-make sure you have decent tread wear on your tires(they don't ahve to be great tires just not bald)
-don't overestamate your capabilities.

I still need to find a place to go to and eat once we get down ther ebut I will figure something out. I don't have an exact date yet but I am thinking middle of August on a saturday. I will post up a date soon. Also this is not limited to dsm by any means, my friend with the camaro will probably be comming again so let's get a list going on of who is comming.

1.) zach - 98eclipseRS

i'm down. as long as i can get my suspension in by that time. ill be in the spirited group please :thumb: anyone know a good place to get some gr-2 or any struts for cheap. i think im gonna have to torch mine

1.) zach - 98eclipseRS
2.) edwin - unlmtdndeavor

we will get your suspension in by thtat time don't worry :D

I just thought of this we should really label what group we would like to be in as well. so here is how the new list will be.

1.) zach - 98eclipseRS - spirted
2.) edwin - unlmtdndeavor - spirited

as for the struts go to www.fftec.com their number is on the site call them up and see what they say, if not your next best bet is summit they are the cheapest 90% of the time and they ship to you so you hvae the product within days.

Hoping to get my car running by the 1st week of August wanna be able to get the bugs out before driving a long cruise, but i would love to attend! How about mid-late August...? Hoping to change the brakes before i go, and i'm gonna love the super hard and old ALL SEASON tires on my ride...Yeah count me in!

1.) zach - 98eclipseRS - spirted
2.) edwin - unlmtdndeavor - spirited
3.) Ronnel - 90REkTSi- undecided?

well i couldn't stand it anymore so i went ahead and ordered a set of gr-2's for 189 shipped off ebay. not a bad price in my opinion. when they get here a torch is gonna go to the rear struts. and by that meet i should have new wheels n tires, a logger if i am lucky.

p.s. anyone know where i can get the logger for cheap. i thought i had a palm but its the second release (palm pilot). or anyone got one that they don't use anymore? :sneaky:

You know i'm in on this, it's time for the next level drive and test the new setup suspension after the stinson drive. Props for serious enthusiast on this drive.

1.) zach - 98eclipseRS - spirted
2.) edwin - unlmtdndeavor - spirited
3.) Ronnel - 90REkTSi- undecided?
4.) mike - dwnshft - spirited

just a reminder to everyone please plese please know the limits of your car for this cruise, honestly I have almost gotten in some serious trouble on this road the first few times I drove this road because I didn't know the limits of my car.

Zach what technical level would this type of drive would be for the new comers who have never driven this route before? I've been on hwy 9 a few months ago and drove skyline like 6 years ago...

On a scale of 1-10-> 1= extremely easy :boring: , 10=extreme race course! :rocks: I remember Hwy 9 being a little tricky for the NOVICE drivers and a few that had bald tires...had a buddies MR2 lose his clutch pedal to the floor on a downhill section, came into the turn a little to fast TAPPED the brake, caused the car to loop out and the WRX right behind him nuged bumpers OMG :notgood: , but luckily thats all that happened. I've seen plenty of ugly mishaps on the mountain roads including my own (and happy to still be alive! :D :thumb: ) If i didnt wreck my car on Sierra Rd, woulda never had a DSM! Just wanna stress the safety for yourself and others, its all in the fun of driving! Safe driving! :thumb: :talon:

84 and skyline are failry easy I would say maybe 3 or 4 on the scale. 84 is a little more technical than skyline but its still a fairly fast moving road to be on, skyline is really easy but we move FAST on that road. then comes 9. It has quite a few sharp turns(blind ones too) and also a longer section where there is a wall inches from the right lane. I would say 9 is a 6/7 on the list not one of the most difficult roads I have been on but for the driver that has never been on it before or has not really pushed their car to the limit it could be fairly dangerous. I recomend every one go to an empty parking lot and see what your car can do. Although it doesn't simulate the actual driving of 9 because of turns and banks and what not but it will for sure help.

so i was suggested by a friend of mine to take woodside on the way back. aparently it is even more twisty 9. it goes up along the coast and through redwood city. maybe some of the more "spirited" drivers would like to take this on the way back?

84 is woodside road, and it is deffinately not more twistie than 9 it is very fun however even the part that goes from the coast to skyline isn't as technical as 9 but very very very fun. I will post up maps later.

i donno i would love to go but my rotors are not in the best shape. ill probobly end up going anyway and just staying toward the back of the sprinted group... that is also if i can get me eprom stuff done. LOL.

funny you say that because that is when the meet will be.

SO EVERYONE THE MEET WILL BE SATURDAY AUGUST 20TH WE WILL MEET IN REDWOOD CITY AT 830AM. BE PREPARED.

Oh hell guys. I'll be out of state by that time. Looks like we're finally getting a good turnout for an actual drive and I won't be able to make it. :sosad:

Some friends and I will be up at Thunderhill on the 29th for a trackday (friday) though. I think the session is already full but you're welcome to come hang out with us and spectate - I'm sure there will be some cool cars out there too. Just in case anyone is interested in future track days, they're a blast. I'd suggest checking out these sites:

http://www.trackmasters-racing.com
http://www.ncracing.org
http://www.nasaproracing.com
http://www.unlimitedlaps.com
http://www.hookedondriving.com

Track days usually cost between $150-$300 depending on the track and the day of the week. The better organized days tend to be more expensive. Most of the above sites offer instruction too. You guys should all do it at least once.

I was hoping you would make one last meet, I will deffinately have to look into some track day slike that I just need to get my brake/wheel/tire situation sorted out first. right now I am cooking my bads so bad only doing some 3rd gera pulls on the street it ridiculous.

You can cook and egg on zach's brake pads when he does a 3rd gear pull... ROFL

Maybe we can throw together a little mini-meet for the 29th at Thunderhill. Everyone can go hang out and see what goes on at a track day. I'm not holding my breath or anything - I know how tough it is to get DSMers together around here, and Thunderhill being so far away will probably kill the possibility. But it would be nice to see some of you guys before I go. Anyway, PM me if interested. I'll be up there the night before.

I guess I'll be taking the "new" Talon out. Count me in! (I'll take it easy on her at first though) I'm in the "slower" group or the "chill" group whatever you wanna call it. :D

I'm hoping to bring out a couple "SPIRITED" drivers out with me! :rocks: :talon:
