i had just put a new head gasket on my 2g and drove it nice for about 2 or 3 weeks till i started driving it like i usuailly do and after about 30 min of hard driving it overheated so i pulled over and let it cool down for about an hour. when i started it back up it had no power at all it sounds like it now has a bad lifter tick. when i pulled the head i noticed that there where a few of the rockers that where really loose. this was over 2 years ago and im finally starting to work on it again and i am wanting to know some opinions on what could be the problems

When you replaced the headgasket did you change the water Pump? Does it overheat after idling for a few minutes? Could be a bad thermostat? Check your radiator hoses and see if there cracked or maybe even worse came off. Check to see if your water waterpump is working properly. How many miles does your car have? Might be time to do some maintenance and gasket and hose replacement. Just some idea's, Hope this help's. here's a link that might help also.

Good Luck!

Have you switched your 2g to the revised lash lifters yet? A couple years ago my Talon started to tick and replaced the old lash lifters with the OEM revised Lash Lifters and haven't had any problem since. Just thought I'd add this to maybe help you solve your problems since I have the same car. Good luck.:thumb:

well the water pump was replaced maybe a month before i did the head gasket and so was the thermastat. the overheating didnt really start till after i hit 120 then slowed back down to the speed limit which was 55 and still wasnt for a few minutes and it just shot up quick. the car has about 177k on it and i have kept up on the maintnence (usuailly before it was even called for). i think it might be easier to just rebuild it just with new rings and bearings gaskets and all that good shit

i am building a 6 bolt for it as well and i will have the newer lifters on it from epn.

well i found out the problem and i feel like a dumbass. the problem was the turbo..... i dont know y i didnt check it before. worst part is i just gave my friend my other turbo so he could trade it for a trubo for his 240

So a bad turbo caused your overheating? Sounds a little odd to me but as long as its fixed. do you know what your temps were when overheating? Did the temps go up while sitting still and then drop when you started moving again? I only ask because I'm having some overheating problems myself.

im not sure on the temp. it wasnt just overheating it had no power at all because the blades wont really spin so its not allowing any air through the intake. im not sure if this has anything to do with it but when i got the car it was running on synthetic oil and i had my gf take it to a shop to get an oil change and even after i called them and told them what oil to use they decided to just use regular 5w-30 and i said what the #### is your problem and he continued to try and convince me that somehow the synthetic oil is over rated for my car. what a ####ing idiot. i alwase hear that going back to conventional oil after synthetic will ruin your motor and i think it caused an oiling problem and thats what fried the turbo.

sorry to hear about your overheating problem but someone posted a link on #2 up there

the problem definately wasnt just the turbo. i also had 2 replace the lifters and also found out the hard way the i had a rod knock. thank god i didnt send a rod through the block it just locked up on me. now would be a good time to finish my 6 bolt thats goin in
