Hello, I have been here about 2 years and this is my first question post so I wanted to take the time to say hi to everyone.

I have searched in the forums and all I seem to find is the reverse of what I am looking for.

My 90 eclipse, just like most other people has a worn out timing cover. So bad that I ended up cutting off about 1/2 of it just so it wouldn't rub the belts. I figured 1/2 was better then no cover. I have nightmares about rocks popping up into the area and shredding my timing belt..LOL

Anyway, I see all kinds of posts about 1g covers on 2g's and 7bolts, But nothing for 7bolt or 2g 3piece covers on a 6bolt. Has anyone done this?? and what are my options besides $100 for a piece of plastic (6bolt cover). I have seen the 2g 3piece covers go for $40 to $60 in great shape. Any info would be great.

Thanks
Scott

Think you kinda answered your own question LOL, if a 1g will fit the 2g then its all the same so a 2g will fit the 1g regardless of 6 or 7bolt the only thing might be different is the center section of the covers as the mount is different! But I've not seen a 6 bolt yet :-(

Well that's kinda what I was thinking. I just wanted some feedback as to how much modification it takes. Also, I am not sure the 3piece is the same bolt pattern or not. the 1g 7bolt cover looks almost identical. The 3piece looks quite a bit different.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm in the same situation as you. I have a 6 bolt swap 95 Eagle talon awd and I hear that you use a 1g 6 bolt timing cover with a modified mount section.

Now if a 2g 7 bolt timing works, it would probably be modified as hell because of the bolt pattern is different, at least that's what I heard.

looking on jnz im sure the top is the same but the middle is the only difference so the top should be just bolt on without modifications and cutting/trimming etc etc

best just to grab the correct timing belt cover for the appropriate motor. no need to over complicate this one ... LOL
