Ok so i recently bought a 98 gst and on the way home with the car the seal behind the oil filter housing came out and dumped all the oil out. Well needless to say i got it started and its knocking so time for a rebuild. Ive been researching for days now and have a few questions first of all lets address the balance shaft should i go ahead and elimanate it or keep it ive been seeing several differant elimanat kits. second of all theres a guy in my area that is selling a 6bolt fully built motor and tranny and fp turbo set up with it for 2000 is this a good deal? Not sure what alls needed to swap from the 7bolt to the 6bolt. I pretty new to the dsm world. My other car is a 95 dodge neon with a fully built and turbo 2.0 sohc wanting to build this gst seeing as its a better plateform to work with.

Yes eliminate those balance shafts that way you free up a few horses. do you know if you spun a bearing or is the ticking noise coming from the head?

Nice on the wannabe skittle. And yes you should buy the FP powered 6 bolt but talk him down some. Which turbo is it coming with?

Which balance shaft elimantion kit do u guys recommend cause I've seen some anywhere from 50-300. And the fp turbo is red that's all I know as of right now.

300 what, oem try the vendors look at them under engine you cant miss it.

Ams had the most expensive kit I saw but it coins with a whole dummy shaft where as the cheaper ones seem to just had a stub shaft and from what I read on ams it was stating that the stub ones could mess with the oil pump. That's why I was just wondering which ones some of u were using

I know alot of people run just the stubbys.... and have no problems.... i personaly have my balance shafts in... for now.

I just got the kit from extreme psi, people run different set ups but its your preference just do it right.

I have the FFWD BSEK and it worked fine. Comes with a stubby and has an oil groove.
