I recently picked up a mustang 75mm throttle body, and a magnus intake manifold .. My question was where can I get an elbow for the throttle body to make it fit with my uicp .. and is there any special gasket that I have to get for the manifold to head?

I know that they have a thicker one that's supposed to help keep the manifold cooler, but does it really help ... and if not, how much is the gasket at mitsu?

Any other comments? I know the mustang throttle bodies are supposed to break and all of that, but I don't really plan on hitting more than 21 psi.

This is going on a built 6-bolt w/ a gt35 turbo and hks 272's .. and link to tune my 750cc injectors / supra fuel pump.

So how do you guys with the mustang throttle bodies get your intercooler piping to bolt up?

Well, you might be able to get your existing ic pipe to work by using a 45* silicone elbow. Most people just end up rewoking the whole uicp so it will clear the tranny linkage and still use a silicone elbow at the tb. Keep in mind that you will also have to relocate your battery or purchase a smaller one to clear the uicp. The tb is mounted a lot lower on the magnus than with the stock im so battery clearance becomes an issue.

yea he could lower it if he had something to bolt the bracket to or just drill and tap new holes for it and his stock fuel filter isnt going to fit either hes either going to need to drop it just above the subframe or put a inline filter i would just put in a inline filter thats how mine is and hes also going to need to wire up a new tps

You will also need dsmlink, aem ems, or similar in order for the mustang isc to work properly.

As for the battery, the easiest route would be to install a smaller honda battery. No need for mods, just bolt it in and go.

I'm already using dsmlink .. I was just trying to find the easiest way to get it together.

I just bought a new battery, and should have spent the extra and got a red top .. but I'm considering just relocating it to the back ..

I was looking for a 2.25 to 3" elbow, but since that's a very odd size I don't think I'll have any luck ..

I would also need to find a flang to bolt up to the tb ... so I might just end up reworking my entire uicp .. I'm just not sure what the cheapest way to do it.

Is there a thread about the relocation box? I'm pretty sure I'll be able to fab one up, but having something to go off of would help

EDIT

I found some steps on vfaq, but it was for a 1g instead of a 2g .. and I need to look around for a cheap sealed box.

check www.vfaq.com for the battery relocation. I just recently did this and its pretty easy. I also installed a battery cut-off switch. I used some heavy guage sheet metal to make a support in the back of my car. It goes across the whole back and I removed the spare. You could do this w/o removing it but my car is for weekends only and I dont take long trips in it. You can use a circuit breaker closer to the battery to stop any mishaps from occuring. read the write up though and you can get it

you can also order relocation kits from www.summitracing.com they have basic to full on show kits.. so check it out

hope that helped a bit

Here is a link for the reducer elbow. I assume you were looking for a 90*.

I really did spend a good 30 minutes searching around, I should have known just to search ebay ..

Thanks for your help guys ... I'm going to order that elbow and see if I have other clearance issues ..

I feel like a damn tard though, because that probably took you a total of 18 seconds to find.

Now that I look at it .. I'm thinking that I might need a 2.25 - 3" 45* coupling.

doesnt your ecu reset every time you disconnect the battery for long periods of time... I was going to do something like that for secruity reasons but instead made a fuel pump cut off switch....

I can't have a battery disconnect switch, because dsmlink would reset if I disconnect the battery ..

but I was wondering about the 90 degree elbow that was posted in the link, do you think that would fit because it looks like I need more of a 45 degree angle.

I posted a pic above.

Yes, but if you relocate the battery to the trunk, you have to have an external shutoff switch in order to pass NHRA or IHRA tech(drag racers, pay attention) It also has to be clearly labled on/off for safety puposes.

With a little massaging, you should be able to make the 90* work with no issue. Remember, the magnus smim and mustang tb will move the inlet lower and more to the pass side than stock. I will see if I can hunt down a 45* bend for you but I think it will be easier with the 90*.

They sell something to prevent that... Noco settings keeper... it uses a 9 volt battery, enough to keep your personal settings in your ECU, alarm system, stereo system, etc... I bought one due to the fact I have DSM Link to, and it works perfectly, no lost data what so ever.... It is at Autozone (where I work part time) and I sell them to tuners that need em badly... or just a guy like me that has a special setup.... It was only $7.99 too, and you can always buy a 9Volt anywhere.....
