Hey guys, I picked up another 95 with a thrown rod.

I found a complete 97-99 4g64 and wondering if i can drop it without any problems? Or maybe i need to tune it or swap to a 2.4 ecu?

Has anyone done this?

going from a 95 4g63 to a 97 4g64. would i need to modify anything? i didn't find anything in the search so it maybe i can just drop it in, connect all the sensors, and run fine?

also another question. is the 4g64 more likely to walk? I have talk to 5+ people running 7bolts and they have never experienced crank walk? its not going to go above 300hp it will be my daily and my other 2g will be my street monster.:thumb:

you should use the search bar it's here for a reason... There are alot of people running 2.4 engines in dsm's. What alot of people do is run a 2.4 shortblock with a 4g63 head. You will find numerous posts on here about it...

pahha i knew someone was going to do it. Instead of wasting time telling me to search, why not just tell me?? that would work right?? I'm not talking about swapping heads, and i know a lot of people are doing it. so you failed on that reply.

So repeat; Can i put a 4g64 in using the stock ecu and sensors? i would like to know before i attempt anything. simple question that i could not find the answer to

oh wow i just noticed the title. it needs to say 4g63/4g64:ohdamn:

Ya your title was definitely misleading. And still i found a thread on it in 3 seconds by typing 4g64 build into the search bar... but anyway ill still answer your question. If you want to just drop a 4g64 into your car you can use the stock ecu, but i would for sure get dsmlink, as far as the sensors go if you use the 4g64 head your going to need to rewire your sensors, that is one reason why people who do a 4g64 swap use a 4g63 head.
