Thank you sir, that was the info i was looking for!

Now to the downside, i can only find 85mm, 85.5mm, 86mm, 87mm, and 87.5mm. Anyone have a link to a 86.5mm HG?

I would assume and 87mm headgasket would be just fine. You can always call up a vendor or two, tell them what block you have and see what headgasket they recommend.

Ya i originally bought the transmission from Slowboy back when they were a vendor on the site. Ill give them a call and ask them what one they used with the original engine. What ever happened to slow boy anyway?

Marti works at s&r now. So slowboy is defunct. And the legacy continues in tampa instead of orlando....

I almost bought a 4G64 SOHC out of a 1997 Eclipse Spyder today, and after reading this thread im a little confused. Is this a block I can use to build a 4G64/4G63T hybrid? They have a 6-bolt turbo engine there as well and its cheaper to buy the 4G64 short block and then the top end for a 4G63T than either engine. both are low miles. main question is can I use the 4G64 block out of the spyder? thanks

I have an evo 7-9 engine not exactly sure which. I was gonna use some parts off it on my gst engine. Problems were the evo head had more oil/coolant passages than the 63 block. I am pretty sure(been awhile) that all the head bolts lined up but not all oil/coolant passages. Then with the evo orientation there was hot and cold sides were backwards. I wasn't able to use it at the time but idk if you could do some fab and make it work?
Edit: Also I did measure the trans bolt pattern and it is the same as the my 63.

Yes it will work. They recomend the 98-99 4g64 out of the sypders as they are less likely to crank walk.
