6bolt block swap with 2g head (help) ??

ok i bought a 6bolt block from a guy in town and it has worn rod bearings and balance shafts.. so im illiminating the balance shafts and the block is at the machine shop getting the cranck turned and polished.. now my question is what do i have to modify on the block to put a 2g head on it? and what do i need to do to the oil pump.. i heard i gotta use a 2g pump but modify it how?

Modifying a 2g head i wouldnt do it i would get a 1g head, and not try to modify it to work seems too risky and too much work.

How so? I got my 2g head stud holes bored out, that's all you need to do. Doesn't seem too risky as long as you bring it to a good machinist

The way the 2g head is designed, it aims at the valves better. It has smaller ports but is more efficeint. Its really a matter of preference for the end user.

Well i guess it could i was going to do it but with my luck i just passed on a 2g head.

You do nothing to the 6-bolt block and, no, you don't use a 2G oil pump. The head bolt holes in the 2G head need to be enlarged/bored out to accept the 6-bolt head bolts and allow for proper oil flow to the head.

What you are doing is a 6-bolt swap. With the 6-bolt block, you do not have the 2G crank sensor. Because of that, you will either need to use a 1G CAS and get rid of the 2G CAS, buy Kiggly's 6-Bolt Crank Trigger Sensor (since you are eliminating your balance shafts) and keep the 2G CAS, or buy the Hyundai 6-bolt front cover linked below.

^^^^what he said. Im doing the same thing and u do have to get you head stud holes enlarged to have propper oil flow. Use all 6 bolt timing and front case assembly parts, and your 2g motor mount will have to be trimmed to go around the waterpump. Also youu dont need to buy that part all you need to do is rewire the cas to use your 2g cas. The sam angle sensor can be used to send the signal for crank angle sensor. You just need to do a simple rewire or buy the pigtail already mad. RRE sells the pigtails and their are several writeups on how to make one yourself. You might also want to consider doing the oil port mods listed by bogus svo. One of the main oil supplys( are the main one i cant remember off hand) Is supplied thru one of the stud holes. Its been said that by doing the swap (6 bolt block 2 g head) you dont recieve addequate oiling for your valvetrain. The first one is mod 2 and the secound link is mod 1. Hope this helps!!!
