does anyone know if you can use an AEM ESM with a 6bolt (say like 1992) motor and a 2gen auto tranny (1998 tranny). it seems to be ESM for the 89 to 94 Eclipse (part # 30-1300)and anuther ESM for the 95 to 99 Eclipse (part # 30-1310). can it be done? if it can. witch EMS can i use for my automatic 98 GSX.

thank you.

Don't give tech advice unless you have first-hand knowledge of the subject.

Transmission has EVERYTHING to do with engine management. The computer controls when your transmission shifts and this is not a feature built into the EMS. Just as laggin3 said they don't plan on it either.

The EMS will work on a 2G with a 6bolt motor however with no problems. You still wire the cam angle and crank angle sensors together and the aem works just like the stock computer from there.

Uhh... Did you see that they were working on a solution to the 1G, and not BOTH gens? And according to this http://forum.aempower.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=7345&highlight=auto+tranny thats all they are looking at right now. You better start doing your own research on it, because it doesnt seem that they are looking into 2Gs just yet. So get your box, fry it a couple of times, and talk to the engineers at AEM for a solution to your nastymatic. And besides the fact you need to be in direct contact with an EMS engineer with something like this. Take the intiative like Rockstar did, and talk to John to see the potential of doing the same thing with a 2G. And why would anyone here with an EMS be interested in auto stuff anyway? Up until this point the EMS has only applied to manual trannys.

Deleted out the crap, Go argue somewhere else.

Neither comments were called for.

hahaha i have never took a typing class in my life. its not my spilling its my typing thats bad.

i am doing my own reseach. it didnt say for what jen for car so i dont know and just wanted to see what some of the good DSM boys thought about this. i know enough that you can only take a forum as a gide line and not as a fact. and the only difference between the AEM EMS 1gen and the 2gen is the pins it seens so far. im looking in to more on it.
i hear that you cant use AEM EMS for an auto 1g car too. but that can be wrong aswell.

First generation cars have a totally seperate tranny computer, so it shouldn't make a difference.

I am surprised that the 2g isn't the same way.

Not true your spelling sucks also. If you can't type well, type slowly, use the "preview post" button to make sure your posts are at least comprehendable.

I have a 2g auto and it does have a tranny computer, it's underneath the storage compartment in the center console. Also, as I understand it there are no differences between the ecu in a manual car and an auto car, so why shouldn't the ems work in either??

I am forced to agree with ianv3.

i was only basing that off the fact that auto cars have a seperate computer to control them.

if thats the case with only 1gs and not 2gs, then i stand corrected. it was always my understanding however that 2g's had their own seperate computer.

Is there an echo in here?
