he ya... what should the normal duty cylcle with 650cc with 20psi on a b16g be?? because on my log it says that im at 98% from 4k to 7k rpm and my timming was 17* to 20* is this normal??

Seems high. I am running the same size injector with a 60-1 and run 75% at 20. 650's are usually the most commonly used with a 50 trim. Mark

what brand injector? delphi? with a big 16g/550/18lbs boost, i was getting 86-87%. 20 lbs would put it in the 90's. those were denso's. then, i got an evo 3 turbo, and since i was planning on running more boost, i got 650's. in theory, the ball disc is a better injector that the pintile. so, i got a set of delphi's. pos to the max. at 18 lbs boost, i was getting HELLA knock, and duty cycles in the mid to hi 90's. even with a chip compensating for the fic's and the dead time. i finally yanked them, and put in a set of denso 660's. IMMEDIATLY, knock went, and idc dropped to the 70's. even with the delphi chip in the ecu. oh, and the delphi's were brand new.

Yes brand makes a difference. I had RC 550's with my EVO III and would get into the 90's at 18-20 PSI. Running PTE's now. Denso's flow more than the rating per Jeff at dsmchips. Injectrs are not all tested at the norm of 43psi either as he also said the Seimens are flowed at 49PSI. Mark

Earlier tonight I logged my FIC 650's duty cycle at 72% at about 5700 rpms, 17 psi, evo3 b16g. I think mine seems a little low. I was knocking about 8-12 counts from 3500 up, So I'll probably add more fuel with the maft.

what is the duty cycle :coy:
i have dsm links so can i check that there

Turbo, boost numbers, and timing numbers will very from user to user. If you can log it, what's your airflow like? If you give us an airflow number we can tell you what range your IDC should be around.

i have a ecu plus piggy back, also injectors are fic 650cc. so all i can do is log, change timming and fuel and also compensate for bigger injectors. but i cant read airflow or nock. but all i see on the logs are that o2 readings are at 0.92+ and timming seems to be normal going from 6* before boost then as i hit boost at higher rpms timming goes from 16*17*18*20*35*40*, but any ways ill post up a log latter so ya can getter a better look at whats happening. (idc at high rpm hits 98%)

Duty cycle of the % of time that the injector is open and yes you can view it with DSMLink.
where do you check that, can you send me screen shoot , and how is important to know your duty cycle

If your timing goes to 35-40* under WOT that doesn't sound right, should not go much into the 20's should it? mark

+1

if you are getting THAT much timing, you CANNOT be wot/100% tps. 40 timing is almost max at midrange cruise. wot tuning aint worth a crap unless you hold it to the floor till redline

my fault i didnt cliarify that but i think i got the 40* when i let off wot . i will update some logs as soon as my ngk iridiums comes in. which is probably going to be this weekend.

you may not want to put the iridiums in. Ive never used those, but other platinums ive tried, and even other normal range plugs are annoying, miss some while driving, and all around fussy. anything outside of the standard ngk's seem to be fussy, not only for me but most of the board as ive read.

you should try it out. i have great experience with them. the are about the same as the denso
iridiums just a few bucks cheaper and the more better thing about the ngk iridiums. is that they now come with one heat range colder that stock. part# bpr7eix. i was able to shed 0.4 off my 1/4 than with the regular bpr7es. it also hold 20 lbs of consistant boost. they are still in great condition the only reason why im changing them is because i do a mandatory tune up on it and oil every 3500k. well just try it out youll notice the power increase! :thumb:

I'm sorry, I just want to clarify, You say that you lost .4 off your 1/4 time by just changing plugs? Or did I miss something here?
