I'm posting this in an effort to inform others the modification needed to a 6 bolt timing cover when doing a 6 bolt block swap in a 2g.

If you notice in the picture, the opening for the engine mount needs trimmed on the left in order to clear the left side of the mount.

This can be achieved using a Dremel. I used a cobalt bit just because i was doing porting work earlier but I'm sure it's not required as the cover is plastic.

Pay it forward :hellyeah:,

Also, knowing where to cut first can allow the ability to partially keep the rubber "grommet-like"
material that usually is in the opening for the mount, lessening the chance of debris to pass through the opening..
Notice mine is torn all the way out... Because I had no idea where to cut first.
This should prevent that mistake for anyone else.

First, I thought you use the 6 bolt mount on the 6 bolt block for the swap.

Next, why not just use the 7 bolt timing cover, most of the bolts line up with those on the 6 bolt.

Nope, you use the 7 bolt mount. But i agree on the 7 bolt cover. Typically, I've used a 6 bolt cover and cut it up top and make it fit the 7 bolt upper cover like Jafro does in his videos.

The main reasons I used the 6 bolt timing cover is:
1. It's a one piece all the way to the top cover
(The 7 bolt cover requires a middle cover)
2. All the bolt holes line up when the cover used is the cover for the block
3. My 7 bolt cover was pretty haggard.

And yes, for reiteration, the 2g mount is required.
