2G 6 bolt questions

Sorry for posting here not sure if this is where it would belong but with my new shell I bought I believe it has a 6 bolt motor with it out of an older talon. When I bought it the motor was out of it it was out and head is shot but block is still good it appears. What would something like that be worth and where could I verify the year of motor I imagine there a spot on the block somewhere with some numbers I can look into.

On my 6 bolt block there was a VIN stamped on the side where the transmission bolts onto the engine. Look under the thermostat housing, I'm not sure if all 6 bolts were stamped.

Yes, the original VIN is stamped into the block on the transmission side. It will be at the top left corner. Once you know the VIN, compare it to this chart to get the year. The only down side, is if it has an N in the 10th digit location, you'll still have to look for the visual differences since 6 bolt engines were standard until April 92, and 7 bolt after.
