sorry in advance if i am posting this in the wrong thread, i am kind of short on time and i just need some guidance/advice and someone to clear a few things up about swapping a 6 bolt into my 1997 tsi awd. so the other day i spun a rod bearing in my 7 bolt and i need a quick fix so to speak, i figured i would be better off buying a used 6 bolt instead of rebuilding my 7. since i planned on building a 6 bolt in the future im thinking it would be more cost effective and save me a lot of time that i do not have (right now) first off from what my understanding is i can bolt up my existing trans (which is needed because of the mounts) and transfer case with no modification, other than a 6 bolt awd flywheel correct? can i use my existing ecm? or does the 6 bolt have different tuning ect because of the different flow characteristics of the head? can i use my existing wiring harness or would i need a 6 bolt one or can i just splice in the different connectors for the cam, crank sensor ect.? what else is needed to complete this swap? can someone direct me to a detailed guide on this swap? with EVERYTHING NEEDED? also if someone can direct me to where i can find a used 6 bolt or if someone has one laying around please let me know. also im on a tight budget 2 grand at most. is this swap possible with this amount? or would i just be better off buying a used 7 bolt or rebuilding my existing one for the time being? im open to any helpful suggestions! i will be performing all this work my self im a toyota technician and went to UTI :notgood: so dont be afraid to get technical. and no need to dumb it down for me like the rest of the noobs. LOL thanks in advance guys i need your help!!
