Hello Everyone

im from Guatemala an a big DSM FAN, please sorry for my grammar.

well my problem is the i bought the 1g naked block and keep my 2g head.
i bought all the pieces for the block but i could not find the crank sensor and the metal plate for it.
my 2g head has a cam sensor, but im stock there cause i dont know what to do..
do i have to install a crank sensor??? can i leave it without the crank sensor just the cam sensor or what can i do??'

thanks very much....
and regards for all who have a 4g63 inside!!!!!

You will need a 1g CAS or modify a 2g front case to fit onto the 6 bolt block to use the crank sensor 6 Bolt Motor Install Into a 2G Eclipse

There is also a Hundai cover that bolts up to the 6 bolt and accepts the 2g crank sensor too.

Using a 1g CAS will allow you to adjust your timing however it's less accurate of a signal for the ECU compared to the 2 separate sensors it originally got it's signal from. With that said, you will be getting a lot of random misfire codes unless you have ECMLink or another program that can turn off the CEL check.

If you don't want to do that then you can get this http://www.kigglyracing.com/parts/cranktrigger.htm

1g's didn't come with a crank angle sensor. All signals came from it's cam angle sensor. Follow LiQUiDx advice but everything also depends on what year your head is (95-96 vs 97-99) and whether you have a 1g or 2g ECU.

well i have an 2g ECU.
but i was thinking in eliminating the crank sensor of the 1g block and leave the cam sensor of the 2g head.
making an additional conecttion from the cam sensor to the original plug of the crank sensor. could this work?

if you want to do away with the 2G crank sensor them you will need to run a 1G CAS and wire accordingly

^^+1. Yes, with a 1g block and 2g head you must then use a 1g cam sensor on the 2g head because the 2g cam sensor doesn't have the additional signal that the 2g crank sensor provides. The 1g cam sensor however has both signals. So you make/buy a special wire harness to connect the 1g cam sensor to both the 2g crank harness connector and 2g cam harness connector:
For a 95-96 ECU: RRE Instructions.
For a 97-99 ECU: RRE Instructions.

Is it bad? Not at all, when done properly. The plugs are most often used for ease of (re)installation and, in rare cases, for reversibility. Basically, if your CAS goes bad, you will obviously need to re-solder the wires for the new unit. Anyone who uses the plugs will simply disconnect the old unit and reconnect the new unit.
