6 & 7 bolt

could someone please tell me what the thing is with 6 and 7 bolt. does it have to do with engines or trannies. newbie here and would like to know. thanks

6 and 7 bolt refer to the motor differences between generations. The 7 bolt has been shown to be prone to crankwalk, while its a rarity to see a 6 bolt walk

It specifically refers to the number of bolts holding the flywheel to the crankshaft- but that part has nothing to do with the alleged crankwalk issue. When they did the re-design of the motor, they did a bit of lightening, stressed it a bit more, upped the compression and changed some details.

Well, duh, you could check the second link in the third post, although that would involve a bit of actual reading and we realize that if you bruise your lips your income could be seriously impaired.
