5th/rev shift fork pin

I'm trying to get the roll pin through the 5th/rev shift fork. The shaft that the shift fork is on will not turn far enough so that the holes are aligned and so I can put the roll pin through.

My question is how can I get the shaft to turn so I can align the holes of the shift fork and the shaft.? Thank you

Did you change the shaft? If so are you sure its the right one?. 5th rev has nothing to keep it from slipping off the shifter inside the tranny. Remove the hub assembly and fork and you can put something through the shaft to rotate it.

I didn't remove the shaft.

I unbolted the top to see what was inside because i was unsure if it was rebuilt.
after taking the fork off you still can't get the rod/shaft to turn.

It probably is stuck at the other end, on the shifter assembly.
