420A 5th gear Pop out

So to start, I have a 1998 eclipse RS (420a) manual with about 230,000 miles on it. I have been having trouble with 2nd gear (I believe its the syncro), and recently my motor mounts went bad. Before I had the chance to replace them my car started popping out of 5th gear. I replaced all 4 mounts but the 5th gear problem still occurs. It only happens under load, I can shift into it with no problems and it will stay in gear if I do not push the gas. Also, it will stay in with no noise or problems if i LIGHTLY hold the gear shifter. Any ideas?

how old is the tranny could be the transmission is on the way out.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I am assuming its the original one. Do you think its a rebuild or do I need to get a whole new one?
