Im in search for a turbo that isnt the most expensive but can pull 500 hp. I have a 1 grand to spend on the turbo but there are so many different turbo's I dont know whichi to go with. the car is going to be a street car so It would be good for some quick spool around town. the fp3052 seems nice but 300+ over my budget.

I just bought an SCM6152sp for $680, The site I ordered from just raised the price to $700 though.
This turbo can easily reach that on Race gas or meth Inj. with other supporting mods. I don't know if there's any turbos that can do 500whp on pump gas(2.0L). A well tuned 50 trim or anything larger could get you there, especially if all you want is 500 flywheel hp.

Holset hx35 and 40 will get you there too.You can snag one on ebay, rebuild it,and get the bullseye housing for under a grand.

Non ball bearing will net you lower prices in the hundreds.

$300 over maybe for just the turbo, but add in the required Tial44 ($360), 2.5" V-Band O2 housing ($250), BB CHRA Oil Feed/Return/Filter ($160) and will see that you'll be up to nearly $2K to install one. Costly, yes, but I've never heard a single person complain about one, and they are proven to spool quick and deliver mad-powah ;)

Then again, PTE has several bolt-on offerings in the $1K or less range that deliver up to 680HP. Even one (GT3076RLE) that has the same CHRA as the FP3052 but with different housings :dsm:

While the 3052 is nice & is the route Im going its defently not a $1300 turbo like dsm90awd, it will be over $2000 for the setup even with a deal. The GT3076 is the same turbo (FP just puts their custom turbine housing on the 3076 & calls it a 3052) but they will still run you abit over 1G. If you have to spend less then $1000 non BB is probably the route you will have to go. A bolt on 60-1 should put you in the range you looking for & bolt on Holset's seem to be a good route to go as well. Another choice might be the Borg Warner S256 or S258 which are fairly new out but the few that have run them have made some good power.

You need to decide what you plan to use the turbo for. A car with 500hp (I'm assuming at the crank), will need a big turbo. A big non-ball bearing turbo will have lag, BUT if you launch off the line (dragstrip), you can sit there and build boost. After you add the cost of an external gate, oil feed line, etc, you are still looking at another $300 at a minimum added to the cost of your turbo. You will still need a lot of other supporting mods, eg. 255 pump, AFPR, 750-850cc injectors, fuel control, FMIC, etc.

For your budget - I recommend this Bullseye turbo which is a FP3052 version (GT3076) that is available with an internal gate. - http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=5463&

gt3561, hands down best 500hp turbo under 1000 IMO. It's a journal bearing gt35r but only spools 2-300 rpm after the ball bearing unit. There's a guy on here making 425 or some thing on pump gas at 20 psi with this turbo and ran 11 some thing in pump trim also. Look for BrnOutKing or some thing like this, beautiful car, great power.

I made 500awhp/460tq on a pte6152SP with the mitsu housing, 2G ported EM, stock 1G port head at 26psi on 110.

If you do go for a turbo like this, I would really reccomend going for the T4 0.70A/R or 0.81A/R housing with it, also utilizing an external wastegate.

With the T4 manifold, wastegate and a good 4" intake (FP cast is good and cheap!), I did 630whp/590tq and 11.0's@133. Spoolup was around 3500rpms, full boost around 3900-4000.

Not a bad turbo for the price.
