Ok so I have a 50 trim that I'm hoping to put on my car soon. The thing is the exhaust housing it has is set up for external wastegate off the o2. But I have another housing for internal wastegate the only thing is when I put it on the turbo the wheel hits it so I was wondering if it'll be possible to have the exhaust housing machind to fit. Or is there something else I would have to do.
Thanks.

yes, you can get the housing machined. but, is there any reason you wouldn't want to run an external wastegate? it would probably be easier and maybe even cheaper. what part of the housing is your exhaust wheel hitting? i.e. is the wheel too big for the hole? ROFL

or... just sell the stuff you have now, and get a purpose built turbo internally wastegated with the correct exhaust housing.

Yeah that is exactly what's happening I am able to put the exhaust housing in but once I tighten it and try spining the wheel it rubs on the housing. I'm sure its not much that needs to be taken off. How much do you guys think they could charge for that.
I would go external wastegate but I'm on a budget so would rather go internal for now. Its either interbal or using my old using myold 2g exhaust housing and getting an external wastegate flange welded on. With a knock off wastegate. Whichone do you think would be better.
Thanks for the help.

honestly, i'd save my money and do it right the first time. going knock-off can work out, but i wouldn't trust my motor with it. i've done a bunch of half-ass builds on my car and i always ended up buying the parts twice. there's a new TiAL 38mm external wastegate with the v-band connections for $159. which is a hell of a deal. then just use the housing that the turbo was built with and decide on open dump or recirculating the wastegate. budget minded would be open dump.

otherwise, call a few machine shops and see what they can work out. they'll mic it and figure out the difference. personally, i had the same choices, and i left the turbo alone. still happy i did.

I think I am going to go ask tomorrow to see how much they would charge me to machine the housing. If it is too much I will just use my old 2g manifold and get a flange welded on.
Is there anything specific I should tell them when I take the housing or just tell them I want the same specs as the other housing.
And just curious where did u see the tial wastegate for that price for that price I could afford to pick one up.
Thanks for your help.

New Tial MV-S 38MM Wastegate

you would definitely want to bring in the housing that came with the turbo so that they can mic it and match it perfectly.

I had never seen the tial wastegate that cheap. That's were ill be buying from when I go external.

Yeah I took it to a machine shop today and they said they wouldn't know how to do it. But they gave me a number to a shop that does custom work. I took it there and the guy told me 40 bucks and to come back later.I just got back from picking it up and he did a really good job. He left it real smooth. And the wheel spins freely. Now I'm just waiting on the oil return. Then imm be installing it and tuning on e-85 soon hopefully.
Thanks for your help.
