i just finish putting together my 1g headswap on my galant. i am using a 2g turbo ecu and the ignitor and coil pack from the 1g. i cannot read engine rpm on my safc, it is connected to the white ignition signal wire at the ecu. this wire is connected to the tach signal wire at the 1g ignitor. my tach is also connected to this wire and it reads fine. also timing does not go above 10 degrees even though the knock sensor is connected. im thinking maybe i have to use the 2g ignitor. any ideas?

Are you using a 2g knock sensor?

yes it is brand new from mitsu. the ecu is from a 96 gst. oh yeah the mdp sensor isnt hooked up yet, but i dont think that would do it.

how do i test the knock sensor circuit to see if it is working properly? i am not getting a check engine light.

1g tb with sensors, 1g CAS, 2g coolant, knock and air sensors. most of the parts on the car are shared with a 2g so i could re use the coolant and air sensor, and the harness only needed a couple of extra wires, the rest were re-pinned. i un-pluged the knock sensor to see if it would set the light off but it didnt, so i really dont know if its even working right. just to check i unplugged the coolant sensor and it set the light off with coolant sensor code right away.

i am using a 90 coil pack and ignitor, i notice the 90 is a little diferent from the 91-94, i think im gonna try using the parts off a new model

Yes, the 1990 coilpack is different I believe. Can anyone confirm this for him?

i was looking at a C.O.P. ignition system and it said it would not work on a 90 but all other years, i checked a few wiring diagrams and its wired up a little different. mainly the diode for the tach signal is in the coil pack instead of in the ignitor like the newer cars

I got no RPM read out on my AFC after I installed it. Then I changed the # of cylinders in the settings menu to 2 (two coil packs) and it read RPM's and ran fine.
