I have a 4g37 engine thats a 1.8 liter right? Should i even bother tuning it up or just try to sell it and find a 2 liter with stock turbo?? Let me know:dsm:

what do you wanna do with the car? Do you have a budget? Can you afford higher insurance for turbo car?

well, the 1.8 is not going to yeild anything lower then a 16 or 17 in the 1/4... if that.. unless you put a WHOLE lot of $$ into it! but it can be successful in AutoX...w/ wheels, intake, exhaust, test pipe, headers, and a few other modifications(suspension)... it can make a fun AutoX companion

-PM about anything you wanna know about the 1.8.. and i can see if i can help

i really don't have a budget cuz im just gonna save till i get what i need

yo man i have a 91 laser with the same engine adn let me tell you i drove a 97 gsx runnin a b16g with a greddy bov and a solid turbo back exhaust and OMG once you drive a forced intduction you realize what a great motor the turbo 2.0 are. i was amazed the 1.8 at is just a grocery getter man dont waste your time or money on it. try to find a swap if the car is straight

I too own a 1.8 which has spent month after month in the shop or on jacks in my garage. Rather than make power of that 8 valve SOHC gokart motor just save some cash, cruise it for a while, then go with a factory turbo charged car. Insurance will only be another 20 bucks or so. I have liability on my 1.8 only 70 bucks a month and thats with AAA. For a 91 TSi AWD it would have been 90 a month.

word my man here is so correct. the just make sure to get a gen one or a remachined gen 2 for the crank walk problems htats not fun at all

And end up paying $100+ more in insurance a month.

There is one guy on dsmtalk.com who made his 1.8 turbo. I personally suggest finding a donor car and just swap the 2.0 into it since it doesn't seem to be too difficult.
