I have a 97 eclipse GS. I just barely bought it and I want to fix it up. I have already bought the cold air intake. I have ordered an OBX intake manifold off ebay but it hasn't arrived yet. I have read another persons thread about the OBX manifold and what I got out of it is that it won't increase horsepower unless I have more mods and that it is hard to install. I have already purchased it so I am going to use it. I want to know what I should buy next to increase horsepower the most without a turbo. I am on a tight budget working part-time getting paid only $6 an hour.

bored throttle body 58-60 mm - which would be better?
venom 400 performance module
header
fuel injectors
exhaust
or something else

That thing is a POS!! ..sorry.. Had expirence with it, and it is garbage. You need to cut this, drill a hole here, custom fab bolts here... ect. bleh... when you get it return it - best advice i can give you for that.

Best thing is most ocvious thing... intake, you got, then get an exhaust, UDP, header, AFX ECU (i would HIGHLY recomend since you are an 97 and that would make you good for while), cam gears, bored TB, ect ect

I agree, always do Intake and exaust first. 2,5" cat-back will do you alot of good. UDP is also a nice investmant. Maybe headers later on, or a 50 shot wet nitrous kit.

AF/X Underdrive Pulley from howellautomotive, mines on the way.

Modern Performance has some good stuff including 60mm T/B

I've got the OBX intake and it was kind of a pain in the ass to put in and I question its durablility because its so thin (looks good though). I may get my stock manifold ported and put that back in when my MP throttle body comes in.

Header/downpipe made a noticeable difference on my car along with the highflow cat and cat-back.

B&M short throw shifter was one of the best mods I've invested in, really quickened up the shifts (plus it makes a nice solid click sound every time you throw it into gear).

Im sorta new at this whole car tuning stuff. I am 16 yrs old and this is my first car. first what are cam gears? how do they increase horse power? Do you know a website that sells them for cheap?
And what the hell is AFX ECU?

AFX ECU is from Howell automotive go to their site (a gave a link above) they give a huge description of it.

Edit: AFX ECU

You can find out about many of these things in the TEch Guide at the top of this site.

im just wondering what is the difference between that AFX computer and the venom control module? How much horsepower will it gain approximatly? And how much does it cost total because at the bottom of the webpage it said Core Charge +$150

REMEMBER: horsepower is not everything.

The difference between the AF/X ECU and the Venom module is that they're completely different parts.

If you want to upgrade cam gears and cams, you'll need to take your car to a dyno as well to tune them correctly.

Want a larger TB? Bore it out to 55mm I say. Anything larger is recommended if you're going to turbo it unless you purchase the 60mm Jeep TB.

If you're only 16 and make only $6 an hour, I say go with the basics first. Sounds like you're going for overkill way too fast. It's not about how fast you can get to the highest possible horsepower. Do some research and learn about your engine/car. Don't just start buying anything that claims to boost hp.

Hey! Is this deja vu all over again? This post looks familiar

Ehh sony is car stereo crap....Remember its not the wattage of the sub...Id say buy some kicker comps off ebay theyre really cheap too or maybe even audiobahn...Circuit city sells both brands. :thumb:

ud pulley is a big must.if your pockets allow it and you wanna go fast.p&P the head next.thats when youll even notice gains from a header. thats when you gotta find out your goal.if you wanna stay n/a,i would go with a nitrous kit, although i'm not sure on this mod with the timing issues involved with nitrous.and if you got chief lots a dough, you will wanna boost right?then i suggest a stage 3 kit and you'll be good to go.after that you will need to drop the compression on your engine to make any serious power.thats my .02
if your gonna stay n/a you might wanna get some mild cams for the street,or agressive one if your gonna go stricly track.

Yep, Sony is crap alright! I'm an avid Audiobahn user, actually I'm partially sponsored by them, but I wouldn't buy any of their items from Circuit City. That's their low end stuff, if you want good Audiobahn's, search for their high end lines.

I don't know about that sub, it could be a good one. Only one way to find out, right? It's definetly not the Circuit City low end junk.

I'm not too big on pre-fabbed sub boxes though, I suggest getting one custom made, that's what I did. Actually, I'm gonna have it taken apart and then get my rear fiberglassed.
