I am looking to switch my blown 4g37 engine to a bigger one, preferably a 4g63. But I am also looking to switch to another type of engine. I was wondering if anybody knows what other kinds of engines are compatible with the 4g63 system, if any. I've looked everywhere I could, and have found nothing. I even called a Mitsubishi dealer and the guy there was clueless. Any help that can be offered, even shooting me down, would be appreciated.

Please forgive me for posting this topic twice. It was a mistake, my computer flipped out and sent the submission twice.

90-95 hyundai elantras and sonatas use basically the same setup with a smaller engine, some sensors are different but the motors are the same they up elantras came with 1.6s and 1.8s, sonatas with 2.0s. You could use parts off them. Some galants had a 4g67, i think is the code, which is a 2.4 dohc but they are rare and i dont know what you need to make them work. Older awd colts came with a 4g64 a sohc 2.4 but i dont know how different the system is to use but the bellhousing is the same as a 4g63.

Wow, you couldn't be anymore wrong. The elantra your referring to, was 92-96 came with a 1.8 DOHC 4g67. The earlier sonatas came with a 4g64 or "g4cs" which is a 2.4l. The earlier galants also came with a 4g64, the difference in years being 6 bolt and 7 bolt 2.4l. The older awd colts you are refering to was a rare turbo, known as a 4g61t. This is a 1.6l dohc. Please stop spreading misinformation if you have no idea what your talking about. Back on topic, if you want a different engine, your gonna spend more money on it then your gonna spend buying an awd dsm. So after you piss away all the money swapping a 4g63 in there, your still gonna be fwd when you could've bought an awd for a similar or cheaper price.

I forgot to add I have tried to swap the 4g67 (1.8dohc) elantra head onto my old 4g37 (1.8 sohc) talon and the block was different, the coolant passages didn't line up.

Thanks all for the info. I don't really know if the question I'm about to ask has been asked before, but I searched and didn't find it, so please don't shot me for reposting :|

I've been doing some more research, and found a wide assortment of standard piston engines I could swap in. Well, I have money, and a few months before I ship out for the air force. What I am thinking of trying, just because I enjoy blowing the "box" to shreds, is trying to put a rotary engine in instead. My questions: 1) Is it even possible to mount up a rotary to a dsm transmission? 2) Has anybody else attempted this kind of swap before, successfully or not? 3) How many people would want to kill me for this?

Again, I'm trying to do something crazy and unexpected, and hopefully amazing. Otherwise, I'll be going with the 4g37 to 4g63 swap.
