does anyone know why i would be knocking at 20% throttle and no knock at wot:confused: and it also knocks if im at a lower rpm and i step on it, but if i let of the gas and i floor it again the knock goes away.

btw i swaped the lifters with different ones because i thought that was the problem
and i tryed two knock sensors

Sounds like phantom knock if it's not happening at WOT. If you already swapped knock sensors, try adding some octane to your fuel mix (add some race gas). If the knock persists, it's not real and you'll either need to get rid of it with DSM Link or an EPROM ECU with a chip to eliminate PK. You might also want to check the torque on the knock sensor since overtightening them will make the sensor overly sensitive.

Let us know how the additional octane works out.

ok well now its doing it all the time as soon as i touch the gas 43 counts of knock, even i rev it up it gets 20 knock. i think its PK but i will try race gas monday, got to go to the bank.

how does the chip eliminate PK? How does it know thats its real knock and not PK?

I had almost the exact same problem with my car and used DSMLink to solve it.

In DSMLink there is a Knock Sensor window that allows you to set at what rpm and/or TPS the knock sensor will come on-line. I simply told the knock sensor not to wake up until 3500 rpms, since I couldn't reproduce the partial-throttle knock event after 3300 or so. Now I have no problems.

Andy, do the chips work the same way?

They do Eric. You'd need to verify at what RPM Jeff brings the knock sensor online, but like his fuel maps, the basic premise is pretty much identical to link.

Some chips tell the knock sensor to not pay attention to knock untill you get boost. So when you are in vacume the knock sensor is kind of dormant, untill you recieve positive pressure. Correct me if I am wrong. There is probably a more scientific way to explain this.

i just need to know if the chip would solve my pk problem. i would get dsmlink but i dont have enought money right now:notgood:

i think the chip looks at several things, like throttle position, rpms , airflow , if it sees that your just normally driving it , it will just cancel the knock readings, or something like that, jeff explained it to me but i dont know if i remember it all correctly, it could be a lifter tick, mine used to do the same thing but i cleaned my lifters out really good when i swapped engines.

im almost 100% positive the chip will solve your problem
