just want to get a few opinions........i currently have a nt eclipse. instead of buying a turbo i'm considering doing all the work myself. i plan on buying a completely run down 4g63 and rebuilding it.......my question is, is this a perfect swap and should i consider upgrading the tranny at the same time?

I hate to tell people to search, but there are so many threads about this it would be hard to pick out just one. You basically have to upgrade the car to a gst or gsx.(aka trade cars) This swap has been talked about hundreds of times and it's just not worth it. Sorry.
Give me a few minutes and ill try to find you a good link

No... just, no. Like luvmygst said, it's been answered a thousand times already - search around and you would have found the answer.

The whole process is very complicated, and not cost efficient whatsoever. It would cost less to buy a factory turbo Eclipse rather than to swap a 4G63 in your car. Almost no parts are interchangeable between the two cars.

sigh, its a fading dream many of us have at one time or another. If you realy want a turbo 4g63, buy a run down gst and either transplant your body parts onto the gst or strip your n/t's engine bay and get a welder. Or like many people will say, sell your n/t and buy a gst/x.
