I saw one guy on here had stroker crank with long rods is this possible and what combination of things would you need. I'm leaning toward a good nitrous build after finding out I will probably be getting a new car in a year and want to keep this car away from turbo unless I find a great deal and came across this I think it woudl make a great street car. he extra torque of the long rods plus the extra displacement benefits of the stroker crank.

It's me. Called Howell Automotive or visit their website. You can buy the bloc already assembled, etc..

Yes it is you LOL. Is howel the only one that does it? How much was yoru block? Did you ever drive with it without a turbo and if so how does it feel?

I think they are the only one that does it. The block was around $2400. After I bought and extra head, cams, valves, guides, lifters, rockers, etc, the whole motor itself came out to around $5-6kish. That's excluding drivetrain also.

I did drive it for a year before I boosted it. It ran absolutely great. I must say I can truley understand why people would choose the N/A route. Very nice response, but the power didn't kick in until 5K, then it was like a switch turne don and the car pulled very hard. The motor felt strong, if that makes any sense. I felt like I could rev it all day with no problems. In fact, the day after I dropped the motor in and set the timing, etc, I drove the car 900 miles out to the middle of Ohio for NOPI international shootout. You can imagine what I was doing there with a new motor in my car. :sneaky: No problems or anything. Even revved it out to 9k a couple times. Ran a 15.1 with it. Low compression at that. Also no turbo.

Now with the turbo I am noticing ALOT of added low-end. I've driven 1 other 420a-T and my car feels much better down low and off the line. Less waiting for the power and more of a strong pull.

Feels great. Wouldn't regret a thing.

p.s- Don't forget I went all out on the top end as well. Cams, porting and polishing, ported and polished IM, over sized valves and all that stuff... So I may feel some more HP then the other guy with a standard rebuild.

Yeah I hear ya. I'm looking to do a nitrous build if I go this way because I don't half ass aspects of a build so if I tried to build the bottom and trubo I would get too deep into a build on a car that might be sold ina year. A 600 dollar nitrous kit on top of a hgh compression build is reasonable though. I would want portfueler to tune and add fuel if I boosted and that a lone would be more then nitrous not even including the turbo kit itself. To me a 300whp on the bottle is more then enough for this car.

I am just curious but in your first post I figured you were going to be buying a new car and still keeping the one you have with what you want to do to it. Now you say you are going to possibly sell it in a year. Why would you do all of that work and spend the money to just sell it? I am sure it would be fun and nice to have but by the time it is all done would you still have time to actually enjoy it if you decide to buy another car?

Well one it would only take a month or two to get this done cause I wouldn't buy a short block I would buy the parts and put them in myself with my friends and/or the help of my local machine guys cause I work in wholesale parts so I have made a couple valuable friends a long the way LOL. But anyway either way this would increase the value of the car to people on here which is where i'm gonna be selling it if I do anyway. SO I would have amore enjoyable faster car and get more when I go to get a new car or be half way on my way if I decide to keep it and make this my weekend track car and do a dsm-zero type buld just not as crazy LOL
